Smaller desktop icons

Is there a way of adjusting the size of the desktop icons. Mine are larger than I like.

I actually tried this on my new computer last week as I dislike the massive icons too but the settings were not retained on boot-up. I'll have another go. ;)

The settings should be retained - both from setting with "view" or with the mouse wheel. If they don't, you have a different problem.

That's what I thought whs; I'll have another look later after a re-start.
