hey guys, i too have the same problem...
smb2030 displays in 4:3 in windows7 and there is no resolution in 16:9 even in the "list all modes"

I guess i cant install the proper driver for the intel express chipset in the pc.
Mine is an old comp which had xp prev. and when i installed Intel Chipset drivers, this very same monitor had 16:9 resolutions available (incl 1600x900).
Even in Kubuntu, it showed in 1280x720 (16:9) (i didnt like the font too small)

The sad part is those drivers which i have are only for xp, and the ones on the Intel website dont actually make a difference. i wonder what to do. any suggestions anyone?

Hello and Welcome to Seven forums Jassy1.

Samsung and Microsoft have conflicts. In Device Manager/Monitors what do you show? In the snip you see mine is Sync Master which means I'm using the Samsung monitor driver. Some systems won't allow all resolutions with it however.
Try uninstalling the Samsung driver if that is what you have, reboot and Windows 7 will install Generic PnP monitor which may help.

i doubt uninstalling will help coz even when i upgraded to win7 (which didnt have the ssm b2030 driver in the begining), it was even more limited to 800x600 (the option for only 1024x768 was there) :(

will try installing back my xp and see where the problem starts from...
will reply (maybe) tomorrow...

I asked for a new thread since where you posted was very old. You'll get more help this way, if you want it that is.

hey people i have solved the problem...

the problem does not lie with the samsung drivers or with windows...
it's with the Chipset drivers which has the problem, and it's manufacturer specific..

the problem i faced earlier was that i couldnt install the chipset drivers coz it was meant only for win xp.
so i downloaded them from intel website (but it didnt work)

then i saw on some forum to try installing the original driver provided by cpu manufacturer in "xp compatible mode" (let windows automatically detect which one)

and now... voila...
u have a normal widescreen resolution

im happy :)

Good news to hear jassy1! The compatibility mode helps on a lot of issues, glad you found a solution. :)
