So, best build for you is?

For me is the build 7227 X86 with SP1, because the performance and Internet Speed are incredible, but unfortunately no X64 version :(

For other hand, have you seen the default system drivers date and version?
For example, Intel 4 series chipset processor I/O controller -> 21/06/2006 version 6.1.7232. That after installing latest intel chipset version.

Then reading you, dunno which one is my problem but any build I try worse goes respect the 7100, all goes slower, time boot increased, less responsive, etc. Anyway I will give a chance again to 7232 x64, but I think I will have to come back to 7100.

And about drivers are you installing the chipset one? It´s weird for me that with 7100 install all and with other builds just 3 drivers. Not sure if the default one are the same of intel. I will check this better if I install 7232.

Clean install over upgrade (if that would apply)

Didn´t read you but not sure what do you mean.

If you have been doing one (or several) upgrades you might have issues you wouldn't have if you did clean installs.

Try these, they may help:
(compatability mode might be needed to install)

Always clean installs m8 and those are the drivers I´m using. After installing them still seeing those kind of drivers I comment in last post, from 2006 and version 7232.

So, should I try with Vista compatibility mode?

What version do you see for that driver I comment for example?

Check out this thread: Released: Intel Chipset Software 9.1.1.1014

Specifically, they list a method for installing the driver that seems to work perfectly.

Back from testing 7260 & it kicks @ss!

Now that I've had some time on build 7260 it's the best so far of all the builds although build 7229 was also very good!
Bootup to desktop is faster now at 18-20 seconds!
This is of course after using PerfectDisk 10 Pro to put all the boot sector files first on the OS HD partition!
This really increases the speed a LOT! ;)

I ran into problems upgrading from RC 7100 to 7260 so this is a bad idea with bad results. A LOT of functions were missing.

But after upgrading (I'm not going to do another Clean Install again until Final) from 7229 it's Kickin with all the functions & added features working!

So now for me build 7260 is fantastic...really fast & stable! :p

Yeah, many people talking very well about 7260 but we haven´t x64. It seems we will have to wait a bit till new x64 (not server) build appears.

After resolve my drivers problems with 7232 x64 I have to say it´s quite fast and stable, except for 1 BSOD I got testing Prototype. I think it´s nvidia driver issue, or maybe that Prototype version I got.

I will give a look to Perfectdisk 10 to see if improves my boot, and maybe I will try that 7260 x86 on my second rig.

Edit: Btw, how do you put all boot files first? With SMARTPlacement method?
Edit2: Yes, Smartplacement

Yep, set PD to Smartplacement & let it do it's thing!
The end result is the fastest OS you'll ever use enhancing the already fast W7U even further!!! :p

The purple blocks (Legend) are the boot sectors at the top of the drive map showing where they are located on the HD.

Make sure to do an Offline Boot-time Defrag as this is the only way PD
can get exclusive access to the system files to defragment them which is also very important! Puts them in the optimal positions as well.
Those are the Yellow, Brown & Silver blocks.

After using perfectdisk I´ve won some boot time seconds, not many but always welcome. I have now less overclock due to this terrible hot, quad at 3,2 and PL 9. I will try with quad at 3,6 and PL7 moderate to see if I win some seconds more. Anyway this is mostly HDD related and have system on 7200.11 500Gb, I will try with 7200.12 1Tb to see if improves a bit more.

And yes, I will give a try to iso 7229 with intel drivers (tested with microsoft default), at least I will have spanish MUI, and maybe I will stick till RTM with that one.

I'm at 7232 and all is well. My son tried it too and ran into problems. His machine keep getting BSOD and auto-rebooting every hour or so (random). He let W7 supply the drivers or had the latest drivers for all hdw. He went back to 7100 and all is well again.

I'd say 7229 is best with 7127 coming in a close second. Windows Explorer is a little more responsive in 7229. Memory footprint is also lower, albeit by a small margin. The Open File security box no longer hangs which had been occuring randomly in 7127. The one thing that doesn't seem to work properly is the TCP Receive Window Auto-tuning feature. It's still "broken" like it was in previous builds as well as Vista SP1. In Vista SP2, however, it works just fine using the default settings. For now, I have auto-tuning disabled in 7229. I hope it gets fixed with RTM.

7229 x86 works best for me on my older Acer laptop. Build 7260 seemed to regress a bit, with troubles locating video, audio, and wireless drivers. 7229 recognized everything straight out of the box. Please note that I did a clean install on 7260 --- maybe if I had tried an upgrade from 7229 I would have had more success...
