I consider myself to be a pretty self sufficient person, yet when it comes to my laptop I am completely lost. there are so many things going on, I almost feel like it would be better to just take it in but am too stubborn to do so. Not to mention a fear I have of trusting anyone with my computer due to having someone I trusted enabling remote access to my computer and stalking me for 5 years...the first issue I am having is with simple typing. ill start typing a sentence and then all of a sudden my curser has jumped at least 9 words back and is writing between words? any idea what could be causing that? next there are several programs that no matter how hard I try, I cant uninstall them, in fact, I cant even find them in my programs and features. I even installed revo uninstaller and they don't even show up there. the most annoying of the programs is one called Full-Disk fighter. that's just for starters...any help that I can get to start with these problems would greatly appreciated.
the thought has occurred to me that this person has again accessed my computer and is causing these issues. maybe I should start by asking how I would be able to find out if remote access has again been enabled?

my laptop from hell

This is the second time to try posting this.

... ... ... ... ...

With all due respect, I wouldn't be jumping to using CCleaner until some other basic steps are taken first.

I am of the belief that one should use those 'scrubbing' tools very reluctantly.

So the step-by-step I refer to is to first determine why a particular program you want to uninstall isn't showing in the normal manner.

So you indicate you do not see the target program in Programs and Features, so can you see it listed in 'Drive Letter' > 'Program Files'?

As for the jumping around of the cursor while typing, I'd set that aside for now while you focus on finding that program you want to uninstall. BUT be careful, of course, as you type.

By the way, is that "Full-Disk Fighter" the only program you are going to try and uninstall?

Interesting name, by the way. Wonder what a 'half-disk' looks like?

First of all thanks for your help!
There are so many programs and strange files on my computer but to just name a few...'express files' is another program and then there's 'VIP access search protect', 'nation zoom browser' and to answer your questions I can't see the programs listed in my programs and features but they are on my desktop and on my start-up menu. there are also a whole lot of pages opening. then to top it off all my directories are all mixed up...ie)videos not where they should be. I am thinking that maybe i should just restore it from a earlier back-up?

Type services.msc in the start search box, click on the little gear icon and the page will open. Scroll down to "Remote Desktop" ( there are three of them) and see if they're all set to 'manual'. Also look up in the left hand corner to see if each say "start the Service". If they say started, click the link to stop the service.

I see 3 Anti-virus programs on your computer! Please uninstall two and only have one running, realtime Anti-virus program. Two of the Anti-virus programs have Firewalls. You only need one active Firewall.

Norton 360 with Firewall
Zonealarm - Check Point Software with firewall
AVG

Anti-virus programs are resource hogs, so between the 3 of them, they're all fighting for your system's resources .... Besides this, the may also be fighting each other's virus definitions!!

Next, download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
  • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
  • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
  • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

re;so frustrated

Dear Jacee, in the strange event I will try to relay to you the steps that I took after your request. so for starters to my knowledge I only have one anti-virus program Norton anti virus running on my system, the other two that you mentioned is in my I cannot see in my programs and features, neither can I see them in my start up menu search. the only place where I can see parts of them is in my d drive.
next task...went to the services and just as I thought I had been set exactly the way you would find if the remote desktop had been enabled, so I changed them as per your instructions. only to check it again the next day and the had again been changed.
as for the final task (had massive problems with that one) so i'll leave that one for my next reply as it is now 3:42 am here in my time zone...ugg...and I have to work tomorrow. what time zone are you in?

You have a lot of "adware". Please download and scan with AdwCleaner as I posted above. I will need to see the .txt log that it produces.

Hi Jacee,
I hope this is what you need. sorry for the slow response but was in the hospital suffering with acute pneumonia and cardiac irregularities...very scary. there is one thing that is really starting to bother me and that is the fact that when I stop remote desktop it somehow 'starts' again.
thanks again

That is a pretty extensive list of adware...Several Browser hijacking entries, Conduit and the many many others are prime examples of slowing down systems, one must be careful on what he downloads and methods used.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
Please download RogueKiller and save it to your desktop.

You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • RogueKiller 32-bit | RogueKiller 64-bit
  • Quit all running programs.
  • For Windows XP, double-click to start.
  • For Vista,Windows 7/8, Right-click on the program and select Run as Administrator to start and when prompted allow it to run.
  • Read and accept the EULA (End User Licene Agreement)
  • Click Scan to scan the system.
  • Once Complete post the log and wait for further instruction.

I'm sorry to hear that you were so sick! I hope you're on the mend and doing much better, now.

I want you to rescan with AdwCleaner, but this time click on the Clean button.
Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S#].txt) will open automatically (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.

After you've done the above,

Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!
  • Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
  • If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it.
  • To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.
  • Click the Start Scan button.
  • Do not use the computer during the scan
  • If the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.
  • If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.
  • Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.
Note: If Cure is not an option, Skip instead, do not choose Delete unless instructed.
  • A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:\ )
  • Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.
