So, when does UAC present itself to you

Well, as promised, I turned UAC on to the default setting and went about my normal business. It is not as I remembered it; it does not prompt for my normal actions, just when I install things, etc.

While I am sure I could rack my brain for things I could run that would bring up the prompt, in reality, it is not that bothersome.

The only time it has come up is when I run something as administrator. The only thing I run as administrator on a regular basic is the command prompt.

I see it daily, installations/updates not included:

Everest
CPU-Z
GPU-Z
Fraps
CMD propmt as admin
Some games

I don't rate it as a security measure, but I do like to see what is being installed/updated, however it's a PITA for everyday apps that I open and don't want to be autostarted with Windows.

I set mine up at the default level too, and the only time I have seen anything from it is when I did my twice-a-week shutdown and startup. The prompt was to ask me if EasyTune6 was allowed to make changes to my system.

In all fairness though, I haven't tried any new programs, or anything of the sort.....just gone about my usual habits.

HD Tune
HWInfo 32
Macrium Reflect
Paragon Backup and Recovery
Revo Uninstaller
Winpatrol
Western Digital Data Lifeguard Disk Tools

That’s 13 programs out of about 35 that I use frequently or occasionally. So I see UAC more than I care to, but live with it. I don’t have a hardware firewall or router.

Like ignatzatsonic, I see it more than I care to, but have also learned to live with it.

On the plus side, at least it's not like linux which asks for a password at the same time
