Solved Software issue/involuntary mouse click

First off, let me state this is not a problem with Windows 7, I had with Vista briefly before I upgraded.

Mouse (touchpad or external) involuntarily left clicks itself. I have tried different mice, no difference. It happens more commonly when typing in text boxes in the web or using Office/text applications.

I've run extensive anti-malware/spyware and virus scanners.

Anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated.

try decreasing the sensitivity of your touchpad and/or update its driver.

I tried updating the driver, and also rolling back. No difference.

Can you run the Sager without the battery, just off of the power adapter?
If you can see if that makes a difference.

I always run it with the power cable, without battery. I guess now I'll try it with the battery, see if that makes a difference.

Changing mouse movement speed made no difference.

Make sure all battery, and compartment contacts are clean.

You can use a clean pencil eraser if you can not find anything else.

Forgot to mention, if you haven't used the battery that much make sure it is fully charged.

I know what you're going for... I had heard of laptops where bad power connections caused slight fluctuations in electrical power causing involuntary mouse clicks.

I've just tried running the laptop off a fully charged battery - no difference. I'll try cleaning the AC connection and battery compartment next. I'm also gonna try plugging it directly into the wall instead of a multi-plug...

Argh...this is the most infuriating problem.

Most common reason to this is a sensitive touchpad. Even if user does not notice it, part of the hand touches touchpad when typing, causing involuntary mouse movements or clicks.

A simple method to test if this is a reason is to connect an external keyboard to the laptop, so that hands don't go near touchpad when typing. If this "solves" the issue, I recommend disabling touchpad and only using external mouse or trackball.

LOL, this was it. I discounted this possibility because my touchpad doesn't actually click with one touch, there is a separate mechanical button. However, I've found out that with a driver update, it now does click by touch.
