I have windows 7 on one drive, I created another partition to place windows xp(SAME DRIVE JUST NEW PARTITION). Now windows 7 wont boot, goes straight to windows xp. Need some help on fixing this
I already have windows 7 installed, it was installed first(came with PC). I installed windows xp after. Now windows 7 wont boot, what the hell do I do now?
You will want to use Easy BCD within Windows XP and have it install the Vista/7 boot loader then specify the Windows 7 installation as noted in the tutorial I previously linked. You can get Easy BCD from Download EasyBCD 2.0.2 - NeoSmart Technologies. The instructions on exactly how to use it are about mid-way down the tutorial where it mentions if you installed Windows 7, to follow the steps below that, steps 8 and on.

Well I tried that the program wouldn't work. I can't use the install disk for win7 because it's an upgrade CD would it do the same thing? **** I can't think.
In this case, it would be fine because you're only using the repair function so yes you can use that disc. Once you boot from it, use the repair program and have it attempt start-up repair. It should reinstall the 7 boot loader and then you can run Easy BCD from within Windows 7 to have it list XP as an entry.
If that doesn't work, when booting up from the disc: (copied from the tutotial)
Using your Windows 7 installation disc, boot to the command prompt at startup. Type in these commands below, and press enter after each one.
bootrec /FixMbr
bootrec /FixBoot
bootrec /RebuildBcd
Exit the command prompt and restart the computer.

Yes, you need to boot from the DVD. After that, you should get a Windows 7 (as seen in the tutorial) and you can click on "Repair your computer" and then select the "Command Prompt" option.
