Solved Somebody has tried to access my account on another forum

Hi there you security Guru types!

I have received notice that a rarely used account on another forum has been locked due to 5 failed attempts to login using my details.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

I have the offenders IP address and thus is there anything I could be doing with these details?

As you can see, I would never make it onto a hacking team but am I being worried for no reason?

I don't think I have had this problem or am I a security expert.
If it was me I would get in contact with the administrators of the Forum in question. Give them what information you have about this hack attempt.
If anybody else has use of your computer I would be asking some questions.
I would also change my password on the Forum in question.

I think that everything worked the way it was supposed to, and I agree that you should change your password on a regular basis. Change it now, just to be sure that they weren't successful on that sixth attempt, but otherwise, I think the forum did what was supposed to happen when an errant login attempt was made.

Absolutely change your password to that account, using another computer ... don't use the computer you created the account on.

Jacee has a very good point; as always.
Your computer could be infected and reading new passwords as fast as they are created.
