something bad happened to my system

hi everyone,
i have a huge problem.
after my onbaord network input cable went bad after got hit from electrecy failure , i went back to pc store where i stil had a warranty and replaced my p55m-ud2 gigabyte motherboard.

thing is that i had to bring only the MB and i disaדsemble it by myself and than assemble it by myself.
i than turn on my pc and it startup windows 7 but after 2 minutes everything stuck and nothing is working, not keyboard not mouse nothing . picture is just forzen.

until the pc freezing i had the time to went to device manager and i see that there is nothing in (!) or (?)
everything is ok.

what could it be?
is it could be due to processor that wasnt placed right? video card ?
is there a possibility that i put the processor in the wrong way and pc will work and windows 7 will start up ?


please advise ?

be sure to have the drivers at hand, as you may need to add the drivers to your old Windows installation.

I'm a little confused. The motherboard you exchanged and the one in your system specs are different chipsets. Is this a different computer we are talking about or did you change more than the motherboard? When you returned your Gigabyte p55m-ud2, what motherboard did you replace it with? I would suggest you follow theog's advice closely. It would help if you gave us a little more information about the computer you are having trouble with.

did you clean off the old Thermal paste from the heatsink and cpu? also did you put new Thermal paste back on the cpu?
another thing you may want to look at is did you plug your fan in and is the heatsink set right on the cpu.

I suggest you post your problem in our Crashes and Debugging forum.

When you do it is imperative that you post according to their procedure given there. Without the file which the procedure requests, then just between you, me, and the fence post, then hell might freeze over before you get an answer. In other words, the info they request is a must for them to be able to help you.

A freeze is a crash.

the new motherboard are excatly the same.
there was an old thermal paste that left on the cpu and i didnt renew it .
as for the cpu fan , i have a cooler placed on it and a fan that placed on the side of the cooler.

by the way at safe mode with network access pc wont stuck.

anytime you remove the heatsink form the cpu you need to clean all the old paste off
and replace it with new.

if you don't know how to apply thermal paste, maybe this will help. And make sure the fan for the CPU cooler is plugged into the CPU Fan slot on the motherboard.

is it possible that because i didnt clean the old one and placed a new the pc stuck.
what about the fact that at safe mode it didnt ?

ok ive just put the cooler paste and it continue to freeze.

Safe Mode loads the OS with minimal devices and drivers. If the OS runs in safe mode but not in normal mode that points to a hardware problem or driver problem.

First, apply the thermal paste as suggested. That needs to be done.

Second, double check all your installations on the new motherboard. Remove and re-seat all the components and be sure they click solidly into place. Double check all your wiring connections, make sure nothing is loose.

Then, check the "revision number" on both motherboards. Are they also the same?

i replce the thermal paste and in order to do that i remove the motherboard and all wired and put them back in and the problem is still remain.
what is revision number ?
anymore ideas ?

Download CPUz And show us screenshots of the Motherboard tab, the CPU tab the memory and spd tabs. Also, when you start up the computer do you hear any beeps? Make sure the 24 pin and the 8 pin connector are completely seated in the correct orientation. Did you seat the ram in the same slots as you other board and are the clips on the sides of the ram completely in the up position?

The revision number tells what version of the motherboard you have. Sometimes the manufacturers produce the same model, but with some changes. So while you may have an exact replacement of the model, if it is a more recent revision you might need to update the chipset driver or the driver for some other onboard device.

It would not be a bad idea either to make note of your current BIOS settings, then reset the BIOS Defaults, and set everything back again afterward.

Another thing that can not be ruled out is that some other component of the PC was damaged in the electrical event. The power supply is most vulnerable in these cases.

you were very helpfull .
thing is that i was very desperate and i decided to see if the problem is in windows installation and decided to reinstall windows .
i boot installation from cd and i start to reinstall but than the freezing issue pop up and now i dont have windows at all .
i tried couple of time to run the installation but everytime after couple of minutes (not much) it freezing.

i think that there is no other option than to put my pc in some lab for them to rip me off .
i think that although i think i put everything ok , maybe i damaged some way to cpu or the motherboard.

before i do that any new ideas now that you know that i dont have a windows (even in a safe mode) .

Do you have any friends that you can borrow a PSU from to test? Are you sure you installed the CPU and the CPU cooler properly and is the fan on the cooler turning? Download and run memtest86 to check your ram. Burn it to a CD and boot from the CD. Run 7 passes or until an error appears. Download the diagnostic test from your hard drive manufacturer. Again, check the 24 pin and the 8 pin plug on your motherboard to make sure they are seated completely. Reset bios to optimized defaults.
