Hoping someoone here can help with a permanently locked taskbar... I mean I've tried everything... Registry fixes changing the values, tweaking apps, creating new 'administrators' and trying to use their password to unlock the damage. I just have no frickin' idea but all I do know is that this little taskbar is kicking my ass and it's really starting to get to me.

I do have access to the context menu's but the "lock the taskbar" option is checked and faded to a light grey, symbolizing how messed up this thing is. Anybody have an idea...? I'm running on Win 7 64 bit Home premium with 4 G's of memory. I can't think of anyway to restore it ( not an option ), or to re install the damn thing since it all comes as one big piece.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks you guys -

Tagen

And I knew the minute I hit the submit key and realized that I forgot to mention I used SFC twice, that someone would remind me. All my system files were healthy. I gotta tell you that this little taskbar is really starting to make unhappy.

I don't know, maybe it was something I did when I was drunk and on my laptop, just no clue. But thanks for the good advice - appreciate it ! Let me know if you think of anything else.

Thanks, -Tagen

Really wanted to say thanks to you guys - I appreciate the way you both went looking to help me ... wish I could say that it worked though. That reg key doesn't exist on my windows 7 64Bit - which is so odd because vishal is always the perfectionist when it comes to the registry. Of course my edition is home premiuum and the one he was thinking of might have been 'Ultimate' .

Anyway I attached a pic of the registry and unless I'm missing something, I'm not seeing it. Maybe my eyes are tired.

Thanks again to both of you, and to karlsnooks... you're right about drinking and laptop driving. Terrible terrible...

Thanks, Tagen

Check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE as well. You're looking for "TaskbarLockAll" or "LockTaskbar". The registry values have to be set somewhere since that is the only feasible way to disable that context menu item. The only other way for that item to be grayed out is if the height of the taskbar is 0 and I have no idea how somebody could get into that state.

THANK YOU FOR THE SUGGESTION .... !!

Didn't follow the REG tweak exactly - but did find a value for a 'locked taskbar' so I just changed it from 0 to 1 and it worked - didn't have to delete anything. Wouldn't have looked if you hadn't suggested it though - much appreciated !

Thanks !
