Slowness/delay in taskbar (problem with taskbar icons/thumbnail)

Hello,

I've been playing around with 3rd party themes and taskbar customizations, and after setting everything back to default (Normal Window Aero themes, taskbar etc) I'm experiencing slowness/lag in taskbar performance.

This is hard to explain but I'll try to clarify as much as I can:

• When I click one application to another from taskbar, there is a 1 second delay for it to switch (Note that all of these applications are opened already). For example, while I'm on Windows explorer (i.e opened folder) when I click firefox, it doesn't switch immediately instead there is a 1 second delay for it to switch. Or when I'm on the desktop and click firefox, it doesn't show firefox immediately instead there is a delay of 1 second before the firefox shows
• When I ALT-TAB, although it switches immediately, the highlight of the tab/icon on taskbar is experiencing delay. For example, while I'm on firefox (the firefox tab is highlighted on taskbar) when I ALT-TAB to a random folder/applications it switches immediately however, the highlight doesn't switch immediately instead there is a 1 second delay
• When I hover my mouse to any applications on taskbar, it takes around 1 second of delay to show the small preview
• Sometimes, clicking any applications on taskbar is not responsive. For example, if I repeatedly click "show desktop" really fast, it doesn't switch for every click instead, I need to click twice to switch it back and foruth

As a result, this happens to ANY applications, not just firefox or internet explorer.

I don't know if this is normal or not but I sure didn't experienced this problem BEFORE I fiddle around with 3rd party customizations. I know the subject is broad and it might be hard for you to pinpoint and find an solution however, if there is any way to solve this "issue" please help me.

From what I remember, the only installation I did was "Universal Theme Patcher". Other 3rd party applications were all executable files (.exe; I just need to run these files) as it didn't require any installations.

As a result, I deleted all of 3rd party executable files and themes (.theme files). As for UTP, I tried to restore back to previous settings however, it seems that the version is same as the current one which I'm not sure if it actually reverted back to the default previous settings.

So what is the best solution for my current situation? I've just tried SFC /SCANNOW for 4 times in a row and it didn't find any "integrity violations".

Thank you, I'll try that.

However, something is strange... I've just tried my fifth scanning and when I checked the UTP, it says the files is not patched?

Also, the click delay/slowness is gone as well. Although alt-tabbing really fast makes the highlighting of tabs delay little bit, its still not as slow as last time.

Did I just fixed the issue? Or am I dreaming?

UPDATE: No, the problem is back and it happens time to time whenever I reboot.

Yesterday, I decided to turn off my PC for nearly a whole day and now turning it on, I'm not experiencing the delay.
To add on, I usually turn on my PC and leave it on for at least 2~3 days straight without turning it off or putting it on sleeping mode. During these time I restart my PC time to time for fresh start and its here that I experience some delays.

Does this have something to do with the delay?

I am not certain I understand your statement. If you mean that when restarting the system and immediately using it you experience some delays, that is the opposite of what normally happens. Reboot/Restart usually results in better performance because there is less load on the computer.

I don't get it either... But I'll try to explain it clearly:
- I always leave the computer on (with no shut down or sleep mode whatsoever) for 2~3 days straight. During this time, when I try to restart the system, I sometimes experience the delay on taskbar
- However, when I completely shut down the PC and leave it for a while and boot it again, the delay is gone

I don't know why but, it looks like leaving the PC on for several days straight might have caused this delay on taskbar which, even restarting the system won't fix this delay. I'm not sure...
