Sometimes my Computer won't let me to enter into BIOS. Plz help.

hi, I've changed my MOBO to Gigabyte.. for some reason, when i tried to enter into BIOS, it doesn't. I cud see "press DEL to enter setup" message... This screen is only up for two seconds before it flashes to the POST screen which then flashes into a screen that says "Loading Operating System". Then it loaded my OS.. Then i restarted my computer and tried to enter into BIOS again... This time I entered into BIOS.. Sometimes, it is not entering into BIOS (as I've pressed DEL so many times before the BIOS entry msg).. why it is happening sometimes ?? plz help...

I'm not sure. Could be a sticking key on your keyboard. Anyhow, when you hit the power button on your machine, repeatedly tap the Del key, and you should enter the BIOS. There is only a very small time window allowed for this, and it could be that you are leaving it too late.

Thank u for replying... I'm sure that i've tapped DEL key repeatedly in that period itself.. But sometimes its happening...

It sounds like you are doing what I would do. When I am entering mine, I boot and hit the key repeatedly starting before the prompt is on the screen. If you have another keyboard, try that. The key could be sticking as stated above.

Sometimes a key on an old keyboard just does not work correctly. If you have a different keyboard, give it a try.

If it is a key that is intermittently sticking or failing to operate correctly, try cleaning your keyboard. Remove the keys by gently prising them off and clear out all the detritus found underneath (biscuit/cake crumbs, cat/dog fur, etc). Don't worry, we're all guilty in this respect. Replace the keys, making sure that they are in the correct order (it can be a bit disconcerting to press a key and have totally the wrong character appear or action to occur).

On my Gigabyte board it just flat out didn't like my Razer keyboard during the POST routine. There were even later BIOS revisions which claimed to address the problem, none of which helped. I finally gave up and would plug in a ratty old keyboard I had lying around every time I wanted to enter the BIOS.
