I recently installed build 7100 of Windows 7. I have had it for a few days, and decided to install Halo PC. When I popped the CD into my DVD Drive, the auto-run didn't start. So I decided to double click on the DVD icon in My Computer. My PC froze up and I had to restart my computer. Going into device manager, I'm told that my DVD drive works perfectly. But when I try to click on "Properties", the Device Manager window freezes (it is still frozen and running in the background while I am writing this post).

Is it a driver problem? Or is there some fix I need to download?

This problem also happened to me back when I installed build 7000. In between then and now I have been using XP.

Edit: It seems to be an on/off thing, because it is working now.

No. It worked fine with Windows XP, and none of the wires are loose. This leads me to believe that the issue is either with a driver or Windows 7 itself.

So far I haven't been able to find a single driver for my DVD drive, so unless there is a broad driver for W7 that covers my drive, I might have to downgrade back to XP.
