SONY HandyCam Model# DRC-TRV22 IEEE Interface Problem with Windows 7

Hello Forum,

I have a SONY DRC-TRV22 HandyCam connected to my system via IEEE 1394 (FireWire). I know that Windows 7 does not support the device connected via USB. For some reason the IEEE card (SIIG 3-port 1394 (FireWire) I/O card Model NN-300012-S6) is recognized by the system, but the device (Camcorder) is not. I also have a SONY external CD-ROM drive connected to the same IEEE card. This device is recognized intermittently (sometimes it shows up under system devices, sometimes it does not). Assuming the connecting cables are good, and the connections secure, why doesn’t Windows recognize my Camcorder, and why the intermittent recognition of the CD-ROM?
My OS is Windows 7 64 bit, my motherboard is a “GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard”. Has anyone come across a similar situation where Windows 7 does not recognize IEEE connected devices, does anyone have a solution?? …Thanks!

I would try seeing if there are updated drivers for the firewire connection either off of sony's support site; and/or your motherboard manufacturers site which may provide a solution to the issue. Especially if it does not want to connect via usb; which in reality it should as most digital camcorders now a days use usb for a connection. While checking for fire wire drivers; i would also check for drivers for the usb to see if you can get it to work with usb.

I have checked SONY's support site for such problems but there does not look to be any driver updates, USB or IEEE, to correct this situation. I have found however some posts suggesting to change the IEEE / 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller Driver to "Legacy", which I did, but this did not remedy the problem.
Bottom line, looks like the system recognizes the IEEE Controller card, but does not recognize any device (eg. CR-ROM, Camcorder) that is connected to the card....still seeking a solution!
