Sony vaio laptop

hello,
i have a sony vaio laptop VGN-FW370j with windows vista on it.
i went and brought windows 7 ultimate today ( a small shop was selling them early), i want to install it but im wondering how i will get all the drivers for my laptop back as the sony site is absolutely useless.

a fast answer would be awsome as im dreading every moment of vista

Strange, I have every driver/program for my vgn ar630e and got them all from Sonys site... You will be surprised how many windows 7 will already have. I suggest you get the drivers for your webcam. multimedia keys and you should be good to go... Let me know if you need any help...

Damn do i feel stupid, i brought the laptop in the usa, and i check the uk sony website...now checked the usa website...and well their all there

I have VGN-AR630e too... and its says that the drivers are not supported to this model... can u post a link to the graphic card drivers that u have.

Sony eSupport - VGN-AR630E - Software Updates & Drivers

Here is the drivers for your VAIO. Now these are for Windows Vista so first I would install 7 and see what drivers it installed for you. If any drivers are not installed than install the appropiate one from the VAIO site. Also do this for a driver installed by 7 that doesn't include a manufacture-specific feature (such as touchpad scrolling or multimedia buttons).

Sony Vaio VGN-FS285M

I have the above laptop which had XP built in. I did a clean install of Windows 7 - but should have downloaded the Graphic Card drivers first for the Nvidia. Also, the Wireless card software so that I could get back on line. These needed to be the Vista drivers for 7 to see the hardware.

Windows 7 is working fine but I still have not got my Function keys working.

u can run W7 my laptop is no supported either, just install drivers in a Vista compatibility mode and should work fine. They only problems i have is my eject and brighness button dont work, and i dont have audio thru hdmi cable ;/ other than that its all good ;]

Nvidia has updated Windows 7 drivers for the GeForce 8400M GT in my Vaio laptop but Nvidia says they are not compatible with Sony. Sony has no updated drivers for me. Any way round this?

install sony drivers in vista compatibility mode and its gonna work fine ;]

I spoke to Sony today and was advised that they will be posting drivers to support Win7 in the very near future. They told me to watch their help center. Hope they update soon. Thanks for the replys

I have an AR830e (all main drivers seem to be the same as the 630)...I have been trying to get my function/s/eject buttons working for weeks. What was your process for getting them to work??

My last try was:
1-SFEP
2-Shared Lib
3-Utilities

I have also tried a couple other variations but am getting sick of the time it's taking to install/uninstall, just to get nowhere.


I cannot get my camera working (though I don't really care, and I assume it's something to do with Utilities not working and I see the 630 has it's own camera utility) and I got my SD card reader working only because I found a link to an updated TI driver (not posted by Sony or easily found on TI's site).

Any advice would be appreciated.

My last try was:

I did a reinstall last week, and got mine, on an FZ working using the following method...

1. Sony Shared library

2. Setting utility series

3. Vaio Event service

4. Vaio Control center

I've now taken them off though because the Windows key + X gives the same option and I don't want unnecessary services running that I'm rarely, if at all, ever going to use.
