Solved Sorting random amounts from folders

First post and possibly in the wrong section.

I have a folder with 10,000 eBooks ( A to Z ) in it and I need to take out 100 randomly at a time over a short period for another project. This could take for ever, so is there any preferably free software that can do this for me.

I wasn't sure where to post this question or even if this is the right forum for it. I apologise if it isn't.

Welcome to the forum. It's not clear what you want how do you want to select the ones to remove by name, date or other or just lucky dip

Thank you for the welcome. I knew my question would confuse, but I wasn't sure how to ask or where to post it.

Having that many eBooks and placing them in a website along with a cover graphic and a lengthy description would have taken me a long time and also taken me away from other more pressing jobs on hand at the moment.

This is why I wanted to sell them, 100 different eBooks on a disk instead. Its pointless starting at 'A' and working my way to 'Z' when its more interesting for my readers to have a varied selection of 100 out of the 10,000 'A' to 'Z'.

I've got software that you put into a folder and it lets you print out a list of the titles only so I thought there must be a similar product that will grab 100 titles at random which I can put in a fresh folder ready to burn to disc. ( More of a lucky dip, as you put it).

With dogged persistence

I ran a computer repair shop from my garage for more than 20yrs, (One of my Grandsons runs it now, fortunately for us, better than I ever did) mainly for retired people like myself. I had a lot of little old ladies I knew couldn't afford to pay for repairs out of their pensions so I took (with there grateful thanks) software and other media (eBooks) as payment. It suited both parties and I ran the business out of interest more than profit. It kept me out of the house away from her indoors.

The majority of customers were downloading freebies off the net and getting more than they bargained for. They didn't believe me when I told them that someone half way around the world was trying to steal their life savings.

Unfortunately I'm still trying to drum it into them about the darker side of this wonderful thing called the Internet.

That's how you amass 10,000 eBooks and a mountain of other stuff that I keep shifting around the house promising my dear wife I'm going to have a garage sale or a trip to the local car boot, soon to get rid of it all. But a lot of it is sentimental old junk, like me I suppose.
