Every time windows makes a sound (not the internet or windows media player) the sound bar comes up. I don't know the proper name for what comes up but its the volume bar like on a TV. The same bar comes up when I hit the "vol. +" button.

It is starting to get annoying because it is always popping up.

Do you have volume buttons on the monitor?

Did you recently install any applications that use sound?

Think back to when this first happened. Anything installed?

I guess you could scan for malware with malwarebytes.

I just did a clean install on my brand new laptop, its the same bar that comes up when I use the vol. buttons. It started after I installed the software / driver that enables the buttons. I also noticed that the screne brightness buttons don't work, they bring up a brightness bar but cant lower it. The only way to adjust brightness is through the Mobility center.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Does Mobility Center have a graphic interface?
If so, there may be an option to stop the volume bar from being visible.

If it's not mobility center it's most likely a small application installed by the button drivers.

It's either a "service" or is part of the run/startup section of the registry, you can run msconfig and check the "startup" and "service" tabs.
