Sound Blaster - I hear myself in speakers

Hello all,

My windows 7 x64 Pro is up to date, and I use latest SB drivers (XFTI_PCDRV_LB_2_17_0008) for my XFI Titanium Pro Fatality.

Everything works fine except that I hear myself in speakers even if the microphon's "Listen to this device" checkbox is unchecked.

If I check it, I hear double echo in it.



I have no other microphones or webcams connected to my computer, and if I disable this device I don't hear myself anymore in the speakers.

Am I doing something wrong or is it Creative drivers that are not compatible with windows 7 x64 ?

I don't think there is any option to mute the microphone. This has been a major complaint for as long as people have been using microphones with PC's. The fact there is no muting of the mic in the playback speakers is the reason most use a headset/mic combo - to minimize the feed back problems.

In the graphic on the Right (Microphone Properties), go to the "Levels" tab.

Many times there are volume controls for "monitoring" the different inputs.
(a good thing if you know how to use them)

See if you have a level that adjusts your microphone monitoring volume, if so, turning is down to zero should fix your problem.

Man, you just gave me the f*ing solution

Of course there is mute option, I muted the microphone and now it is okay: the microphone works and I don't hear it in my headset.



But, the "listen to this device" should work in the first place ! So it is still a bug, but now I think it is Creative fault.

("Levels" tab slider is for overall microphone input, so if you put it to zero, your mic doesn't work anymore)
