Sound intermittently stops while I'm using Windows Media Player, Movie Maker, etc...

I dont use the onboard sound. I use an USB Native Instruments interface to connect the audio inputs/outputs, the Asio driver is updated. My Win7 is updated too.

I read on this forum about disabling "Selective suspend settings" at Power Settings, Advanced, USB, but the problem comes.

I mounted this PC this month. It's used for audio recording Only. Skype, messengers apps, Office, etc aren't installed. I have only my DAWS and plugins installed and I use internet only for updating my system.

Any thought?

I have a (Sonar X3) recording studio. I have several USB audio interface units (A Roland Octa-Capture and an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R) but do not use them for regular PC sound. I use the RealTek that is built on my motherboard.

I would suggest using the regular PC sound and see if you have the same problems. That will help in problem troubleshooting.

Very nice point! fireberd

I followed your suggestion. Recorded a few tracks using the PC sound and the problem didnt happen. Returned to my interface and in one minute the sound stoppped.

Btw, Ive been using this same system/interface on a Duo core 2Ghz, 4Gb ram laptop win7 32bit and never had this problem. Now with my new build PC 64bit this is happening...

What do you think?

Sorry... Ive forgotten to mention that besides the sound stopping for a few seconds when Im using any audio/video program that also INCLUDES my DAW.

The buffer size setting in the Native Instruments device may be too low and that will cause dropouts.

That's high.

What do you show in the Device Manager for Sound devices?

Here is what mine looks like. Post a screenshot of yours.

Hey fireberd,

I've been waiting and it seems I could compromise with 512 buffer without any major problem.

I hope it's solved. Thank you very much for ur help.

Peace.
