sound problem

i do not know if there is a post about this but i will ask myself

so .. my problem:
i usually run everything on speakers but sometimes i want to switch to headphones
if the game is running and i switch to headphones or the other way around i have no sound and i must restart the game .. why ? how can i fix this
and this happens on every game i play :|

I believe that in many cases once you've switched to headphones, in order to get back to your system's speakers, you have to either start the game again or worse, reboot your system.

It could be caused by a full-screen application block by your firewall suite..For instance my Norton Suite blocks applications from changing parameters while in game mode or entering full screen applications..

i do not have any kind of anti virus anti spyware detection or protection ... only the standard that i get from windows 7 updates
so ... what do i do ? suggestions ?
and so far i didnt need to restart pc to get my sound back ..

If you have the P5K board, the U.S. boards use the Realtek codec.
If your board is using the same codec, you can download the Realtek software from here Realtek, if you haven't already.

The software gives a jack detection pop-up whenever it detects that your headphones have been plugged in. By pressing OK to the pop-up, you should have sound. The sound shouldn't be disabled because you're using a game, but it could happen.
