Sound Resets to Zero

This started about 3 days ago. Every time I restart or do a cold boot, the sound resets the volume to zero (0). Everything looks fine in the device manager.

I can move the slider up and then I have sound.

BTW I have onboard sound.

I am just wondering what could have caused this to start happening and how to correct it.

Problem solved. I ran Malwarebytes and it found a couple worms. After removing those the PC is performing normally.
