When i'm playing videos the sound starts becoming very crackly and buzzy. I checked my CPU usage because my old laptop used to do this due to CPU spikes, but it's still sitting between 0-5%. The laptop is only a few months old and it's been doing this for about a fortnight now. Also when i'm playing back a screen recording it does the same thing, but at the same point every time so it's obviously recorded the crackling. Any idea what it could be?

I had them same problem with my speakers in my old laptop. The difference was the speakers were about 3 years old. But could be the problem with your's, build up of dust or something. Try plugging in an external speaker or something and see how that goes.

Not playing through my laptop speakers i'm afraid. I'm using my studio monitors.

Oh ok that maybe a bigger problem. Could be just a fault with the speakers maybe if you bring it back to them

I'm not convinced it is though. When i was screen recording, the sound that was being recorded was what was playing inside the laptop (don't know what the terminology would be for that), the speakers weren't being used as a sound output. Could a driver fault make this happen?
