Hello,

I have a standard 3.5mm output jack on the back of my motherboard,

whenever I change the jack, e.g. take speakers out, plug headphones in, the sound stops, usually when i'm using itunes, or bbc iplayer. Sometimes this can crash microsoft messenger as well.

I have to restart the application for the sound to work again.

In the sound options i have the box unchecked for allow applications to take control of this hardware. Also installed latest motherboard driver and problem still exists. Motherboard is Asus P5Q Deluxe.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks

I had a similar problem on my laptop and rolling back the sound drivers fixed the issue. What happens if you allow applications to take control of the hardware?
