Hi,

My acer (aspier v5 171 Series) (windows 8) has been working smoothly for 1 year now, but since couple of days the sound would go off if something is not being played for sometime. then I need to restart to get it back...initially I though it happens after I lock the laptop but today it went off even without locking.

all the sound icons like speaker icon, volume bar is functional but with no sound.

any pointers?

There is a Windows 8 forum. Since this is an issue with a Windows 8 system may be better to post there.
