Sound windows 7

Hello,

I have a problem with my sound after I install windows 7. I use soundmax sound. I have tried different new drivers for soundmax but It didn't work. I also let the windows update download drivers but it also didn't work.

When i try install driver it complane that the audio driver files do not support your computer hardware.

Soundmax work good in XP.

What I can do? I hope you can help me.

Hi Joni, Welcome to the forums.

You can download Vista drivers from Here. Once downloaded, right-click the exe file & click properties & under the 'compatability' tab have it run for Vista (any SP). This should then install the driver & get sound working for you.

Sorry it didn't help. It still says that the audio driver files do not support your computer hardware.

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

What make and model board are you running there? A look at the specifications can help to see there is a correct Vista update for the audio chip if onboard for that model. If not you would need a separate sound card.

Actually this is what I was looking for! "ADI AD1986A SoundMAX 6-channel CODEC
S/PDIF out interface" ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

A socket 939 board most not only seeing XP but Vista 32/64bit driver support at this time. First you have to select the OS in order to see which recommended drivers for that model board are available at ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

Normally you would simply select the OS you are running. Unfortunately Asus lacks any Vista updates that would work on 7 as well for the 32bit or 64bit Windows. At least you will be able to find your back in case you run into any problems when the page loads there. It took 3 attempts here due to some script running on that page to post the link for it. That was likely due to the IE security on here.

Has anyone experienced the issue of the sound going out, but once reboot, it comes back. I noticed that I will sound all day, and then, just out of the blue, I am not able to hear anything, I reboot, and it comes back. I have a soundmax.

The only sound problem I've been seeing with 7 since the Vista and now 7 64bit application and driver updates came out from Creative has been with the custom assigned Windows logon sound with the default startup sound unchecked.

That still won't play as the desktop is reached. But that seems to be Windows 64bit related since you will hear it on the 32bit RC.

For onboard or embedded audio the drivers are being refreshed and made active again once Windows is rebooted there. Apparently you have something running maybe in the background that occasionally clashes with the sound drivers and knocks them oiut by trying to access the same resources.

XP used to see that often when a separate sound card was installed on the first pci slot due to a shared resource problem prior to SP2. You'll need to look over the startups as well as various processes to see if this is not strictly a Windows/device driver related problem.

I think I am good now, drivermax found the latest drivers for me, then it downloaded and installed it as well.
