I am receiving a message that the IE Explorer 9 is out of date and no longer supported. When attemping to upgrade to IE 11 I get a message that SP 1 needs to be installed first. My Windows 7 update list indicates that this up date was installed in October of 2010. My question: Can I simply reinstall this update without creating other problems or is there a better or safer way?

Hmm, that is strange. SP1 was only released on February 9, 2011.

If SP1 is already installed, it will not allow the reinstall anyhow - so go for it.

I suspect however, that you are confusing Service Packs - there are a number of MS products which have service packs, such as the various versions of the Visual C++ distro, and Office.
