Yeah I read that. Back & forth. Back & forth. Apparently nobody knows for sure over there on that thread.

I do know that I do not want WGA or WAT or whatever it's called, on my machine. If it is, I'm uninstalling SP1.
Why the fear?I do know that I do not want WGA or WAT or whatever it's called, on my machine. If it is, I'm uninstalling SP1.
No I don't think that thread was very clear at all. There was a lot of debate over there. I was hoping somebody might know of an official link from Microsoft that would clarify the situation.I know for certain its not included and I knew that when I posted on that linked thread.
You don't have to have pirated software in order to object to WGA. I don't need to keep pinging their authentication servers every 30-90 days (or whatever) in order to prove myself. I already know I'm legit. And what is your problem with WAT?
Uh, that's what they say, but I have a valid receipt and I have a valid key and I did enter it at the time of activation. As far as I'm concerned, that should be good enough for them.In all fairness though, you don't "own" your copy of Windows, you have a license that Microsoft provides you to use their software.
Yes, they can try. They really can see fit to require it.
Well not really, considering the sheer ubiquity of Windows and the fact that I do have to take some of my work home with me using their proprietary formats. I'm afraid that's not entirely by choice. There are other OS's out there which you can use, if you really object to it.
