SP1 Icon Error

Hi so I just upgraded to SP1 and the installation went fine but now my desktop is all messed up and the start bar doesn't load. Here's one of my desktop items:

Basically they're all like that; none of them have icons, and when I try to hover over it I have to click the text to open the item. Also, the start menu doesn't load. I click the start button and nothing happens. I also press the windows button on my keyboard and nothing happens (so I have to press windows+r and control.exe to get control panel to open). I'm running W7 Ultimate x64, Core 2 Quad, 4 GB RAM. I've tried restarting/shutting down, but it doesn't fix the problem. I'm thinking next step is system restore (which I definitely don't want to do), but I'm hoping someone has a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance.

You'll need to wait for an expert, but I wonder if this has to do with corruption of the icon cache db?
Have you tried a reboot?
