So windows has been trying for months to automatically update to SP1. I finally tried manually today and couldn't get it to work. I tried from both the update manager and by downloading SP1 directly from the MS website and updating it that way. All come back with "unknown error". I tried a hotfix on the MS website for SP1 update errors which didn't work. My research finally lead me to run chkdsk. The best I could get it to do is in command prompt safe mode to confirm there was an error but it could not fix because the volume was locked. I've tried running it from the gui and it says it cannot perform the check because the volume is in use, and asks if I would like to schedule one next time I restart. I click yes, restart and nothing happens. No prompt, no nothing. It starts as though I never scheduled anything. I've tried these from command prompts and gui. Officially lost, and the forum searches keep bringing me back to the same solutions that aren't working. Any help?
