I've been testing several Windows 7 builds and the most current 7229 x64 and still experience a strange problem I have not yet figured out. Any experts out there with a suggestion or some information would be highly appriciated as the problem is driving me nuts!

Connections:
I have my HP Pavilion dv5 Notebook PC connected to a Samsung 40" LCD TV (HDMi) and sound with an optical TOSlink to a Pioneer multichannel reciever through a Creative X-Fi Surrround 5.1 USB sound card (Creative beta Windows 7 driver installed).

Problem:
The audio seems perfectly fine until I try playback a multichannel (Dolby Digital or DTS) source like a DVD. The audio seems too hasty and payback at a (increasingly) faster rate than the movie. This is increasingly noticable during playback and after a minute the voice sounds way before the lips move.

With a stereo source or SPDIF passthrough switched off there are no sync problem.

I find the problem strange as the same cable are used for both, but only with SPDIF passthrough enabled the problem occures.

I would highly appriciate any feedback to my issue. I've tested all to my knowledge. Thank you in advance :)

I've got a very similar setup and I just threw a DVD in. I don't have the same issue however. When i use DTS i get no sound and when i run Dolby I get sound. However, I've never gotten surround to work properly. The DVD is currently playing on all 5 speakers. I believe the front and rears are acting the same, the center is different however. When i run a sound test, I only get sound from the front R&L and the center, never from the surrounds.

The AMP is fine as when i run it's sound test it is capable of pushing to all 5 speakers, so I fear the problem then lies with the Creative drivers.

Now the only reason I mention any of this is for background...

I've got Matroska pack installed on the PC as well however. I've also got DIVx package installed. I think having these additional decoders ensures the proper codec decipher what your viewing.

I believe your right.

It is not a codec problem as it will occure with a DVD inserted and no codec installed. Creative are very slow developing drivers and my hope was that there were a way around the problem. Seems the only thing to do is to wait for a new driver then.

I'll definatly never buy creeative again, they have no customer support what so ever and the drivers are very poor and never updated.
