I have some Logitech Speakers and I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. My issue is that even with my system volume set to 1 the sound is very loud. Is there a way to go lower?

Hello there, Uttenger, welcome to the forums :)

Could you elaborate more? what model of Logitech Speakers do you have? which sound card?

I have a Logitech X-230 set and Realtek HD Audio, i have all my settings on 0dB and it's perfect.

Thanks for the reply. :) I have Realtek HD Audio as well, and my speakers are Logitech S-150 Digital USB speakers.

Could you check your Volume settings on the Playback Devices?? the thing i don't get is that you're complaining about "higher" volumes, when the volume setting is for "lower volume" issues

Let me ask, do you have the latest Realtek HD Audio Drivers? Version 2.56

This may sound silly, but some speakers have a volume control on the speakers themselves. Also, if you open up your volume controls separately you may be able to adjust your speakers (fine tune them more).

I'm sorry for my ignorance on the subject! A little back ground on the problem may help. I share an apartment and the walls seem to be paper thin. I have my speakers plugged in and they play wonderfully but they are loud I don'y want to inconvenience my roommate with the noise. I know headphones would be the obvious answer but, I have a wireless keyboard and mouse that i use so i can sit on my couch when I use the computer and my headphones won't reach. So I have my speakers on and i turn down the system volume to 1 and the sound still fills the room.

Thank you for your comment WartHog! The speakers have a volume control on them, however they only adjust the system sounds.

Hahaha and upon further inspection on the volume controls I saw the solution. WartHog you were correct in fine tuning the sound. I was able to turn down the speakers AND adjust the volume for the program i was using. Thank you both so much for your input, you've helped me solve my problem. Again, Thank you!

Use NirCmd to set Windows system volume

You can use NirCmd to set your Windows 7 system volume. The command I use is "nircmd.exe setsysvolume 75". You can find a copy of NirCmd on CNet here: NirCmd - CNET Download.com
