I'll have to agree with Nigel, media changes, usually for the better. I've converted all of my music and movies to digital. I still have CD/DVDs but don't use them. They will go the way of the 8Tracks.
Some people still have and use floppy disks, that's fine if it works for them.
Don't know if you can even buy them anymore.
After the first time I installed an OS from a memory stick, my DVD is used to transfer whatever is on them to digital. Yes, a couple of backups are needed for safety.
Won't put a DVD in my next computer.
The music, movie and other industries will work out how to control the copyright aspect.
