Split pci-e from PSU or one from PSU, one molex to pci-e?

On one of my desktops I have the pci-e from the PSU going into one socket and then being 'split' and going into the next. Do I replicate this for the one I'm building? Or should I just do the one from the PSU and a separate one converted via molex?

If you don`t have a duplicate of that cord coming from the PSU, then you will have to use an adapter to make it up.

Most PSU`s tell you exactly how many PCI Express cables run off it.

What make and model PSU are you putting in the new build.

A manufacturer`s link please :)

And a link to the card/cards you will be installing.

The card needs 2 6 pin pci-e connectors.

That PSU only has 1, but it does say it has 6 4pin Molex connectors, I wouldn`t buy that PSU.

That is an old card :(

I recommend an EVGA Power Supply unit. No less then 600 watts.

After closer scrutiny, that PSU has 6 molex connectors.

So yes, you can use the adapter.

A proper link from Thermaltake would be better.

I`m not finding any TR2 430 Watt PSU`s there.

Thermaltake - U.S.A.

If the gfx card needs 2 * 12V 6 pin pci power connectors, get a psu that has these dedicated cables hard wired. A good quality branded 600W (or higher) device, as has been recommended. Y splitters and such are OK as a temporary bodge to hook up low power stuff (fans etc), but the yellow 12V lines carry the amps and need the correct psu.

I wouldn't use or recommend a power supply that doesn't have the proper cables that the system needs. Specially the proper cables for the video card.
No jumpers just dedicated cables.
In my opinion if a power supply that was designed to power a video card that needs 2 power connection the harness would of come with the power supply.
