Sporadic BSODs on home built pc...fresh install of 7 about 1 month ago

I was given a PC to replace my old PC which was mainly only used as a plex media server. I did a fresh install of Windows 7 and installed whatever drivers were not already installed by default. I looked up the mobo to make sure I have a up to date chipset driver as well.

Seems like at least once a day it will BSOD and recover. In the event viewer I can multiple issues however I have no idea where to begin.

Any advice is appreciated

Hello and welcome belteck mate before we can go forward please follow this
Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums
or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you don’t know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.
*(pretyped to save time)

The other thing I would like to know is how did you fresh install this machine for example did you clean the drive first and just what media did you use for the install - DVD or something because if that DVD is not the OEM for that machine then the copy will be flagged as non genuine you cannot transfer copies between machines unless you can get express permission form Microsoft first.

I just did the systems spec stuff so you should be able to see it, that is a pretty awesome program.

As far as the fresh install, the previous owner had given me a burnt cd along with the key he had been using. I popped in the CD and did a format of the drive before installing it on the main HD. But that was it. Its stating its genuine per the system info screen.

Ok well to make sure we are on the same page
a) you were given a machine with a Microsoft sticker on it which will have a key/code for activating Windows and then you used an ISO copy of Windows to install it onto that machines hard drive using the code from the sticker?

b) you let the ISO copy install onto the drive after you formatted the drive?

Now if that is correct then I would suggest that you run these please
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker - Windows 7 Help Forums
Disk Check - Windows 7 Help Forums < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

If you still have problems then I personally would either buy a new drive - a great time to get an SSD or clean the drive before you install because a plain format might just leave remnants of an old install to corrupt the new.
I always clean a used drive before I fresh install - Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command - Windows 7 Help Forums a clean is suffice as a clean all takes a long time to perform. You will need a second machine to do this though.
I am also just curious as to where the other person got the copy of Windows and if I were you I would get it yourself form a genuine source see this
Clean Install Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums in this tutorial you will find links (see pic) to download the copy from and then you need to burn a bootable copy (DVD) at the slowest burn rate you can use as this minimises the probability of data corruption. I use Imgburn The Official ImgBurn Website (use their own site) at a burn rate of x2.4 at the highest you should only use x4.

Now the choice and budget is yours and we can carry trying to resolve whatever is wrong now but it may take some time.

Hi Beltek,

BSOD not my area but i can tell you need more RAM.
You only have 1GB to play with looks like your graphics card is hogging 2GB

Possible the BSOD's are down to a lack of resources.
notes
Plexmedia is falling over all the time.
You need DDR2 ram system can support 16GB

Plex did seem to be crashing quite a bit. I noticed there was a recent update that may have addressed that I installed a day or so ago on the Plex program.

Just had a BSOD today about a few hours ago but nothing about the Plex service in the Events viewer.

Brandon are you running Kaspersky if so mate are you also running any other AV's alongside??

I ask because my Kaspersky's on my machines generally do not like playing with MBAM especially in real time.

Can you also send the dump for that blue screen please.

Ok Brando mate the previous files were for Event Viewer that's the only reason I was asking for the dumps.

Now the last dump shows some issues with memory.
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a)[/COLOR]
    # Any other values for parameter 1 must be individually examined.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000005003, The subtype of the bugcheck.
Arg2: fffff781c0000000
Arg3: 0000000000002d83
Arg4: 0000972600045b06

Another dump is referring to driver issues but first up I would suggest you follow this please and make sure of the 8 passes
Now to make absolutely we are on the same page the memtest linked here is the only*one we recommend and it MUST be run for at least 8 passes or you may as well not bother. It is rather lengthy and best left for a downtime for that machine - overnight is good. Having said that you can stop the test if errors show up while you are around and then it is a matter of tracking down the bad stick of RAM.* RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums
(This is pretyped to save time)

Once this is done and the problem is identified then it just means finding which stick of RAM needs replacing.
If the memory is ok then we shall have to start going through the drivers issues.

Now I also asked what AV you have got on because Kaspersky was referenced in the Event Viewer files so I am assuming that you have had it recently installed and then uninstalled??
I strongly urge you to get yourself an AV on board and there are plenty of free ones see this link.
Free Windows Desktop Software Security List | Gizmo's Freeware use one of the real time ones but I again urge you not to go with AVG, MuckAfee, Baidu, Comodo (because it is an awful nagger) or Ad Aware my choices would be Kaspersky Bitdefender Sophos MSE Panda and Avast the others I have not tested so cannot comment but am sure thye would not be better than the ones I would use.

As add on scanners there are these too
SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes for Windows
AdwCleaner Download
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
NB If anyone who has Kaspersky as their security they may find it will not like ADW running and to stop the nagging just temporarily disbale the Kaspersky while one runs ADW
