Hello

I am trying to install SQL server 2005 standard edition on windows 7 professional.

I select to install everything, but the installation of database services fail, and I can't find the log file I am requested to inspect.

Please note that it is the installation that fails, so I have not had chance to apply Service pack 3 after the installation.

Has anybody else succeeded in installing SQL server 2005 on a windows 7 professional?

I am trying this on a "clean" windows 7 installation - Visual studio has not been installed yet.

Best regards Stig Nielsson

no, the service packs should be installed after installation of sql server. And please note that it is the standard edition of SQL server I am trying, not the express edition.

I've been having the same trouble. Windows 7 installed and the SQL 2k5 install only allows the client tools option in the setup. All other options (Database Services, SSIS, SSRS) are disabled.

I fixed it by running the SP3 installer FIRST, let it update the native drivers and then run the SQL setup. Pretty crazy but it worked for me.

Hope it helps.
