Every now and then (it's happened about 3 times in the 2 months I've had this computer) one monitor will turn a pale green with gray stripes and the other a pale lime green. I have to hold the power button to turn it off after that. Don't suggest to update the driver, I've already tried that and after that nothing worked right and I had to go though the process of uninstalling ATI's driver completely and putting it back on. Here are my graphics specs:
HP 2009 Series Wide LCD Monitor on ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
SyncMaster 932BW/BW1932/932BWE plus(Digital) on ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

Thanks for the help!

-(I will try and upload a picture next time it happens.)

Well that sucks....
On a different note, when a hard drive grinds that means its failing too right? If so I really got screwed because mine is doing that as well....

To find out if your harddisk is failing or not, use S.M.A.R.T reader. Harddisks today have S.M.A.R.T in it, it's like a counter/log that counts it's up time, spin up, spin down, and logs - as in how many error in spin up, what's the current error rate, etc... Basing on those data, you can roughly understand how your harddisk is doing (as in is it healthy, or dying, etc). Some programs that can read S.M.A.R.T data: SpeedFan, HWmonitor, HWinfo32, etc...

edit: SpeedFan, not SmartFan...

Grinding or Ticking?

Ticking while the hdd is accessed is normal, how audible it is depends on the brand, model, and whether it supports AAM.

FYI your hard drive is a Western Digital Caviar Black, 1TB (Terabyte). I recognize the model number because I have one. And if the hard drive is making "grinding" noises, that's not a good sign.

You might want to take your computer back to where you got it from and let them know of the problems its having.

No need in messing around with a new computer still under warranty.

My opinion.

indeed, at the default settings for that model, AAM is enabled and it makes the drive fairly quiet.

10.3 doesn't fix i for everyone, and infact i don't recognise the drivers as a real fix.

the issue is definitely in the hardware itself, specifically where it switches from 3D to 2D voltages, (or in reverse).

Since there is more then just a GFX issue here though, definitely get the machine serviced.

If its a hardware issue than over a million 5xxx series cards are faulty.
