So for the past two years i have had non stop problems with my computer, constant freezes/pauses etc, i took my computer to countless technicians all who could not find anything wrong, inexperienced or what i don't know.

Either way my computer has produced less problems with the occasional crash every few days, which is still annoying.

anyway i am trying to transfer a file to my external HDD, as soon as it starts copying my computer will freeze, unfreeze and re freeze untill it finally hits a BSOD. i managed to copy it using teracopy but it started to freeze when extracting, it freezes when copying to my externall HDd or dling to it.

any ideas?

Attached my specs.

thanks

Do you have all the current drivers for all your hardware installed? Since this has been an ongoing longterm problem, I would start from scratch. I would remove any external hardware and do a clean install. The make sure I have all the current drivers installed along with all MS updates. I would also check and see if a BIOS update was available and install latest BIOS if needed.

Hey bassfisher, unfortunately i have already reinstalled windows 3 times with no luck of it fixing my problems, either it is a driver issue, a bios configuration setting such as how my hard drives are connected or an actual physical problem. I don't usually update my windows so i will give that a try with installing updates, and i will also try to update all of my drivers. I have never updated my bios can you direct me on how to do that? and also check the settings which could be wrong within mine that could cause my problems.

thanks

Is there a good reason not to update Windows? :sarc:
Those should always be done.

Is Windows fully updated? That's the first thing I'd do, at least the critical and important updates.

I'd check the hard drives by downloading and running the drive manufacturer's utility.

I'd check the RAM using memtest86+. Let it run for 6 or 8 passes. That will probably take overnight.

Do you have other presumed healthy hardware you can swap in to replace current stuff--such as another power supply, different RAM, different hard drive?
