SSD and HDD downloads

hi

installed ssd yesterday everything is absolutely fine.

im trying to download some programs to my hard drive as.ssd is for OS and League of Legends...

yet it is trying ti download everything onto the ssd and not giving me the option of where to Install it? How can I change that

Your browser should have a setting that lets you choose where to download files. I download everything to D:\downloads, a folder that I made for that purpose.


The individual program should give you some control over the installation location during the installation process, but I'm not sure how completely you can control that. I always use default locations.

What web browser are you using?

Most software allows you to specify the install location but you often must select "Custom Installation" in order to be able to do that.

As others have said, the browser should allow you to specify where you want to download files to, for FireFox, you can set that on the General Tab of the Options dialog:

I personally set it to ask me every time but you can set it to D:\Downloads if D: is your HDD and that's where you want all of your downloads to go.

Chrome, IE and other browsers have similar settings.

I would install programs to C to benefit from the SSD speed and because they integrate themselves into the registry and become part of the OS until uninstalled.

User folders are best to move off of C to the HD. User Folders - Change Default Location
