Ssd boot?

Don't clone from a backup,clone the disk itself.

Arconis 2011&2012 say that they are ssd ready and that they will do the alignment.
Once again that is what I read, not what I did. I used Paragon when I did mine.

My OS is on a partition - When I clicked Next, it said something about more info.
Is it going to try to clone the whole drive or just the C partition?

Its asking that because you didn't wipe the ssd b4 you started. You ssd still has files on it from your first try and it is warning you that they will be overwritten.

If I remember right it will clone whole disk or just the partitions you select.

Just remember do NOT erase your HDD till your sure everything goes right with the clone, so you can always fall back on it.

Also don't forget to select the system reserved partition as well.

You need to "clone" your HDD to ssd. Not "recovery ". That is why you do not see the system reserved and why it did not "copy" it and also why it will not boot from ssd.

The $20 program talked about above does a great job. It was made just for that. Its a one trick pony.

Arconis will do the samething though... I never used Arconis to do it, so can't say how well it does at it.

If you want to try it ....wipe the ssd and "clone" the HDD over to the SSD.

I transferred everything from the second partition and was able to clone the C drive to the SSD.

It shows in Disc management, but not in BIOS.
How do I boot from it?

Unplug all other drives and leave ONLY the SSD connected and see if it will boot from it....and go into your BIOS settings and see if it shows up under "boot priority"

I disconnected other drives, would not boot.

I went into BIOS - not recognized.

When I looked at Boot Priority - it only showed a USB device and the CD drive.

You didn't clone everything that needed to be cloned, specifically the system files.

Notice that System Reserved on the original drive is marked "system", but System Reserved on the SSD is not.

I think you have to run startup repair, possibly several times.
