Compared the boot up time as follows ("normal slow" in black, My startups and services off - this color):

The 14 seconds isn't the difference maker. But this is helpful to know. What next?

Okay, ran it. Realized that the earlier test WAS all startups off. I was confused. Pretty much the same as the earlier test, around 1 minute, 26 seconds.

We really need a boot trace, but our expert that deciphers those hasn't been here for 6 months.

I've found someone who wrote a blog about doing boot traces properly, and he's willing to decipher one for me, so I'm going to see if he can join us here to participate. Just need him to teach me how to give him what he needs.

Yeah, I'm working with chamlin to get a good boot trace with disablepagingexecutive set to 1 so I can drill into the boot trace and determine root cause. As long as there isn't any personal exposure to him I might be able to make this into a learning experience via a blog post too.

xbootmgr? Nah, that's not Carls work per se, but he and I and some other Premier Field Engineers from Microsoft used the WPT as far back as doing traces on XP and 2003 systems. Limited value/high risk of collection (never do +DRIVERS for instance).

So we helped spread the news externally to some extent.

Man, I'm in pretty good hands here, between all of you. I just got the Windows Performance Toolkit downloaded. Took a long time as it wouldn't install properly because of the issues with it installing an older version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 and x86 Redistributables, but once I uninstalled the newer ones, it worked. On to the next instruction.
