I used my mfgr. restore disks to install a clean Win 7 / 64 OS to a new Samsung SSD and then created a D drive for data. I'd like to pare down the other partitions to add a bit more room to the D Drive.

It looks like on the attached that I can delete partitions 1, 2 & 4 and leave the EFI partition for Windows. Can anyone provide some clarity as to why these others are there ?

I'd be using Mini Tool Partition Wizard.

Thanks.

Partitions 3 and 4 are part of the UEFI GPT boot records. They can not be deleted if you want your system to operate, plus they are small.

The recovery partition (2) is to allow you to reset your computer to factory standards.

I do not know what the first partition, Sonysys, is for but I would suggest leaving it alone or ask Sony but it is also small.
I really do not see that you would gain that much by changing your system partitions. It would really be better to get an external disk if you need more storage.

See this tutorial for explanations of UEFI

Thanks, suppose you're right. I'm always reluctant to call Sony. Their main job requirement, is, well, just to have a pulse.
