When I first installed my SSD my programs loaded quickly. I move my documents folder to another drive to save space per one of the FAQs. It seem like everytime I access another drive on my computer it tries to reindex the drive slowing the process down. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

I'm not sure how you mean trying to re-index the drive. It is most likely the mechanical drive is asleep and has to wake up and spin up before it can read data.

Are your documents included in your indexing? Do you include contents or just file info? The options you set affect how Windows handles indexing and delays. When you moved the documents folder, did you rebuild the index?

Click the Start Orb and type index in the search box. Select Indexing Options and review/adjust what is being indexed. Click on the Advanced button and select Rebuild to clean and rebuild the index.

If you have a SSD, I would turn off content indexing on it. This can be done through the disk properties window. I turn off content indexing on all my drives. But if you search files by content a lot, you should leave it on. Just keep in mind that this takes up a lot of space.

Essenbe: By indexing I mean when you click on the drive you get a bar going across the explorer location bar (not sure it that's the term). The computer has been on for a short period and the drive isn't asleep.

Carwiz: I followed your directions and it's in the process of reindexing. I've modified it to only index my documents, my pictures, Start Menu, and Favorites. I'll report back when it's done.

It's fixed. Thanks again. I think it was the reindexing that fixed it.
