I just installed a new SSD to replace my old HDD. I disconnected all my HDD except the boot HDD and newly installed SSD. After booting into windows I initiallized the SSD in disk manager then used Macrium Reflect to clone the drive. My MB has a 6GB/s Connector on the Marvell Chipset which I used for the SSD to get the best performance.
I then changed the BIOS to for that controller to ahci from IDE

Is there anything else I should do to maximize it's performance?
Is the speed appropriate for a Crucial M500 240GB
Why does the benchmark say I have 31K Bad

9) SATA2_0/1/2/3/4/5 (SATA 3Gb/s Connectors, Controlled by ICH10R)
The SATA connectors conform to SATA 3Gb/s standard and are compatible with SATA 1.5Gb/s stan*dard. Each SATA connector supports a single SATA device. The ICH10R controller supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10. Refer to Chapter 5, "Configuring SATA Hard Drive(s)," for instructions on configuring a RAID array.

I don't like that 31k bad statement in the AS SSD benchmark window.

Looks to me like bad alignment.

It's fixable, or you can just start over and align properly.

Is it easier for you to just do it over with correct alignment? I've never fixed bad alignment, but have heard it can be a pain. Maybe easier to start over if you don't have a lot of time invested. After correct alignment, you'd just restore the Macrium image again.

All fans PWM; speeds at idle: CPU circa 500 rpm; intake circa 600 rpm; exhaust circa 600 rpm; CPU temps 27 idle and 47 C load in a warm room (27 C/81 F) when running Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test.
I removed the old drive from my system. Could I image the SSD and then restore it after alignment or would that bring back the bad sectors?

In the AS SSD img it shows 31K-BAD that means you need to align the ssd drive. Google "align ssd"

Not positive, but I think that would bring back the bad sectors and be no improvement. You could try; it wouldn't hurt.

Your choices more likely are:

Clean install

Re-clone or image restore from the old HDD

Correct the existing bad alignment

It looks like everything worked. I used Mini Partition Wizard and selected the Align option. I didn't have to reinstall windows all the data was saved.
1) Are my benchmarks appropriate for this SSD?
2)I can't find the updated driver for the Marvell 9128 to clear the windows error msg. Any recommendations?
3) How should I copy the MyDocuments files from my old drive (in ext enclosure) and tell windows on my SSD to use the new location. The name of the User Account is different. Does the lock icon on the folder mean anything?

Thanks
