SSD To AHCI Mode....(Tried the Reg and the Bios attempt)

So I made a bit of a mistake... I threw windows 7 on my new SSD. without having AHCI mode already enabled.. well I found you could do a little registry edit and bam it works... not.. it caused my system to constantly restart until I went back to IDE mode. my mobo is a MSI 870 G45


Question...

Should I just reinstall windows in AHCI mode. I have not installed much at all except for drivers no biggie I'd like to stomp this early. but I'm worried about re-installing will just cause system to go back into rebooting like crazy.

Hi,
I'm no where near an expert but you might try startup repair if you have a installation disk,
But if you read the top notes here you might very well need to reinstall clean

by chance bit of a side question how should I treat my 2nd drive it will be my storage bin for programs etc. should I install windows on it or ? just reformat.. then place files on it

Just finished changing mine to AHCI and it went perfectly and very simple. Have to change the registry first, then reboot and catch the BIOS to change there .Reboot again and all should work. The only thing I lost was XP, have to find a floppy drive to reinstall with drivers.
