Standard User Account Desktop

I just created a standard user account and when I log on its blank like I just installed windows. How do I give a standard account the same desktop and start menu settings as my admin account? I asked this on a Microsoft forum that didn't help. Thanks,

You can start by right clicking, on what is now the destop, and personalize. It would be done in the same way that you made your current desktop. If the questioned desktop is actually, blank (just gray etc), the account is corrupted, make a new one and delete the problem one. Another way is to use windows easy transfer and everything will transfer to the new user account.

Well, for the desktop you can right click on the desktop > Personalize > and either pick one of the standard desktops or go to Desktop Background on the bottom left and pick your own picture or picture folder. You can also right click on any picture in your picture file and go to "Set as desktop background".
For the Start menu, you go into All Programs and right click on the programs you want to appear in the left pane. Then you click "Pin to start menu". In case the program is represented by a folder, you first have to left click on that folder and then you right click on the program itself (the .exe - not e.g. Read me or Help).

I would like to copy my admin desktop to the standard user account.

Follow my instructions. That is the normal desktop for a new account. You can have any desktop that you desire.

BTW I really like that desktop. Mine is just a vacation picture from Maine.

While reading this, a thought popped into my head about using the avatar I use on forums as my account picture, so that it appears on the log in screen and the top of the Start Menu. I'm sure that I will need to convert it from a gif...probably to a bmp, but what would I do with it then?

Yup, thanks. The browse window said that it would use jpg, png, gif & bmp, but it didn't work for the gif for some reason. I just used the jpg that I already had, and it worked okay on the Start Menu. I can only assume that the same will be true on the login screen, until I reboot later.

Hi!

Personaly i would simply create a second "admin account", then change my current "admin" to "standart"... As well i wouldn't need to re-organize/configurate...
