Hello All,

My first post to the forum. What a wealth of info. Looking forward to contributing...

Maybe someone has a similar issue? this one is wierd.

Seems as if compnents of the OS fail after different periods of time. when the failure occurs I will see the handy dandy CPU meter stabilize at 70%. At that point I know that it's happening. No programs can be launched. the only button that works in the program list is shutdown. If I click on start (now the windos icon) then all programs the list is empty. Right click on the task bar to launch the task manager and i get "C:\windows\system32\taskmgr.exe No such interface supported"

Uninstall the driver, then try re-installing and see if that helps fix the problem.
Touchpad problem ... I think.

I would agree with Jacee, This could be related to a memory fault so it may be wort running MemTest although the details do point to the synaptics touchpad software.

Check with the Laptop manufacturer for the latest driver (7 or if not then Vista), and see if that improves things

thanks for the quick replys...

I was thinking CPU too maybe proccessor.

Jacee - you probably noticed but my original post has two events the second being the touch pad. thinking the touchpad problem might be a symptom of the larger problem. Strangly enough the touchpad continues to work when the driver fails.

anyone have a similar problem? I didn't notice anyone on this forum with this issue and researching the events yealded way to many unrelated results. it almost seems like the 64 bit components of the OS fail. Maybe what I should do is re-install the bios and chipset and a reinstall the OS. For some reason i feel that it's a hardware error that will require replacement/repair. i wonder if windows 7 taxed it too much. Seems like the fan wasn't running as much maybe it overheated it.

thanks again.

I still think that it is a Processor issue. It may have gone bad, or perhaps the BIOS is glitching. Try reinstalling the BIOS if you know how, and perhaps Seven as well.

I'd suggest uninstalling the touchpad software/driver and seeing if it works without it (have a USB mouse handy just in case). Win7 auto-magically installed the drivers for my Lenovo laptop without any prompting.

WHEA errors are errors that are generated by the CPU. Most often they are hardware errors, but they can be related to compatibility or even drivers.

This is why...

Hi Altersol...

Reason:
The cache stores important data and code. If this is corrupted, errors often occur. Software performing read or write operations to non-existent memory regions which leads to confusion for the processor.

Solutions:
I give you two solutions...

1. Use the previous version of your existing driver. I give you its link...
Download License Agreement | Synaptics

Replace your current driver with this one. This vista driver may support windows 7 too.

2. Decode MCE(Machine Check Exception) with this windows command line program from AMD.
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/MCAT.zip

This is for family 0x10 and 0x11 processors. Cautious about this!

My practical solution:

If you have abode flash player installed, remove it. Now reboot and see whether the problem is coming again.

Note: The error you get is common in windows XP even for your laptop series. Windows 7 is not the reason for this error.

Hope this solves!

Finally have some time to look at this issue.

SevenFive; If you're still following this thread. Why do i need to use caution when using the MCAT. isn't it just a utlity to diagnose issues. Don't believe that flash is installed I'll check.
