Stanley Cup Playoffs

After putting on a clinic in game 7, the Red Wings advance to round 2. WoooooHooooo!!!!

The Coyote fans have NOTHING to hang their heads about though, they played a great series.

Since there has been some predictions in this thread concerning the finals, I'll go with Detroit & Pittsburgh again for the third straight year. When you look at the depth on both team rosters, it's not rocket science to see who the best two teams in the N.H.L are. I see a tie-breaking 3rd finals matchup in the future.

GO WINGS!!!

That game 7 was an awesome game to watch.......until Detroit started running away with it.

Pitt is my "2nd" team. I used to love watching Jagr. Hated Lemieux though.

OHHHHHHH OHHHHHHHHH.

The Wings are getting owned at the moment....sweet. :p

Almost forgot that 2 Badgers play for SJ. Heatley and Pavelski.

EDIT: Detroit just scored, within 2 minutes of SJ's 3rd goal.

3-1

A lot of scoring early in this one. 7+ minutes let in the 1st.

Gotta' love all the Big Ten fans in here. I've been a Michigan Wolverine fan for as long as I can remember [my Dad went to the university]. All my favorite sports teams are in Michigan [Detroit], except for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Wings may have dropped game 1, but it was less than 48 hours after game 7 of the previous series. They looked like they were doggin' it out there. That's one of the drawbacks of having a veteran team, as they aren't spring chickens anymore. However, it was that veteran leadership that shined in game 7 against the Coyotes. Gotta' take the good with the bad concerning a veteran based roster. Still, a 1 goal loss isn't bad for the way they played. Jimmy Howard most definately could have played better. What can you expect from a rookie Goalie? He'll have his share of ups and downs in the playoffs. That's to be expected.

Game 1 was really tight on the ice. The Sharks play an aweful lot like the Wings. Stiffling defense, and puck possesion. There always seems to be a sea of humanity in the nuetral zone, and makes the transition game nearly impossible. That's one of the best aspects of the Wings' game, but so far the Sharks have shut it down. This will prove to be a really good series. I'll take Detroit in 7 though. :p

Let's get ready to RUMBLE!!!! Game 2 of the Red Wings & Sharks series is on tonight....and I can't wait!

Where did all the hockey fans go? C'mon guys, let's keep this thread alive! :D

Looks like the Penguins are handling their business as well. I'm still going with a Pittsburgh & Detroit rematch in the finals. What say you?

One game does not a series make, Bro. The Hawks will get it going, I have no doubts. Figures Hossa starts playing great in the playoffs after leaving Detroit....LOL...Wish he would have played that well last year for the Wings [in the playoffs, he had a great regular season]. The Penguins used him as a "planted" player for revenge....I knew it!

Yeah, it's been a pretty good game so far. The Sharks play a lot like the Wings style of play. Looks like this series could go 7 games [God I hope not though]. I'm a bit nervous about our rookie Goalie. He's letting too many go by him.

That 2nd period was all Sharks! We got lucky to be up a goal. Damn, I didn't know San Jose was this good. I guess that would explain why they are the #1 seed...LOL

Jimmy Howard came up big that period, and bailed the Wings out with some GREAT saves. The Sharks were peppering him with shots on goal.

It would be nice if the Wings could stay out of the penalty box. These refs are a joke tonight.

I watched part of the last Cavs game. Your right, it was really bad. Not as bad as tonight's game though. The refs GAVE the Sharks that game. I don't mind losing in a fair game, but that was attrocious officiating. It's hard enough to beat the Sharks on their ice, but it's impossible when the refs make bullshit calls all night. The Sharks had 5 power plays in the 3rd period alone....WTF?!?!

It's a real drag having to wait two days to watch a game, then you get robbed.

The Sharks are the "feel good" story of the year, so the refs are trying their best to keep that going. What a crock!

I'll agree with that. It was by far a badly officiated game.

Well, after watching the absoulute worse officiated hockey games I've ever seen in my life, in games #2 & #3 of this series, the Detroit Red Wings came out and played game #4 the way they are actually capable of playing. The Wings smoked the Sharks 7-1. It's sooo frustrating to watch the Wings play like the best team in the entire N.H.L ONLY when their backs are against the wall, and they're facing elimination. I don't know what it is with the veterans, but it seems like they can only get up for a game if the challenge is almost insurmountable. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that they have been in so many of these playoff situations before. Many of them already have 3-4-5 Stanley Cup rings to their credit. I only hope they can keep playing like they did last night, so they can advance to the Conference finals. I'm not counting on that though, because it's almost impossible to beat a playoff caliber team 4 games in a row. Thanks refs!!!
