Can someone please take a look at the picture i have attached and explain to me what has happened to my start button and how to fix it. I can see my correct button there but as you can see it is underneath the strange square which i never saw until i turned my computer on today. Thanks in advance.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box

Looks like the start orb was changed to a new york yankees button. That means it was moddified somehow. Check your windows directory and look for explorer.exe then look for somekind of explorer_backup.exe file. it might be named something else.

If there is no backup, then your explorer.exe was modified and no back up was made prior too it.

Try getting a new copy of explorer.exe
Try using sytem restore and restore to a point prior to the issue.
I know that explorer keeps backups. Do a search for explorer.exe and you may find a backup hidden deep in winsxs folder.

OR look around for the default start orb. Then use that image and apply it to your explorer.exe. MANY tutorials on how to do it manually. Im sure you need to set permissions first.

Good luck.

^ If you need a new explorer.exe, I have a backup copy (for build 7200 X86)... never tried swapping explorer apps but it might work if you really need it to.
