Hey everyone, this is my first post here, so if this is in the wrong forum please let me know.

That said, I am in the process of designing a very precise Windows 7 theme for the iPhone. All of my components are perfect, and it looks exactly like Windows 7, except that I lack the actual start menu. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could go to find the core .bmp (or whatever format they're saved in, I'm just assuming bitmap due to transparency) so I could extract them and use them for my theme? I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.

Welcome to Sevenforums. You nailed the place to post right. :)

If I'm right, the files you need are in aero.msstyles, which is in "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero" (varies if you're using x86 or x64.

You'll need a program like Restorator (have to buy, but there's a trial version) or Resource Hacker (free, less features) to find the files. I'm not sure what resource numbers you'll need, but a quick search around the forums (and Google) should result in what you need.

Once you know what you need, just go to it, right click it, extract it, and edit it to your needs.

Good luck on the theme! (I might want it for my Touch if you release it ;))
