Start menu pops up

Windows 7 forum,

Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit

In my power options the display is set to turn off after 10 minutes
when plugged in. When I tap the space bar to bring the display back
up the start menu always opens. How do I stop the start menu from
coming up?

I found out a fix this behavior.

It requires a change to the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
In this folder the key named StartMenuInit is defaulted to 4 so set it to 2.

The first time I rebooted there were some new icons on the taskbar and
all I had to do was unpin them.

Start menu popup not solved

Windows 7 forum,

In my post "Start menu pops up" I thought I had solved it but changing the registry key
StartMenuInit to 2 but it only fixed the it temporarily. After a couple of re-boots it
gets set back to 4. Still looking for a solution.
